Advanced Training Course for Delegates: Resolving Conflict at Work

Contact: John Kerr 03 377 3582

This one day course is intended for experienced delegates who have successfully completed NUPE’s Introductory Training Course for Delegates: Understanding Organising. The course will build on the skills and knowledge developed in the introductory course, with a focus on developing skills for managing and resolving conflict. By the end of the course, participants will have:

  • Developed their understanding of the legal context they operate in and identify the legal means of resolving conflict.
  • Developed their negotiation skills and increase their confidence in using these skills to resolve conflict.
  • Identified a range of options and processes they should use when dealing with conflict in the workplace using their knowledge and skills learned and developed on the course.
  • Set themselves a small self initiated goal for their own work site which will act as their self assessment task in collaboration with their NUPE organiser.

The Assertive Delegate

  • Ability to successfully communicate with confidence in their role as delegates
  • Understanding of “workplace bullying” and to develop their skills to deal with it
  • Understanding of advocacy and to develop skills to successfully advocate on behalf of members
