The following courses are pending re-approval :



Committee Members Course

A four-module two-day course targeting:

  • new Committee members who have not attended this course before
  • Committee members who have been on the Committee for some time but have not been able to attend previous courses and those who consider that they need “refresher” training. 

The course aims to provide participants with:

  • a thorough understanding of their role and the Association’s structure
  • an understanding of the employment processes in the Police environment
  • a working knowledge of the Police internal disciplinary process
  • the tools and resources to answer queries and resolve low level employment, health and safety and disciplinary issues
  • a knowledge of the Association networks available to them along with how and when to use them
  • an understanding of how their Committee can raise and deal with issues

The Office Holder’s Duty Belt

This course is intended for officeholders who have been newly elected or those aspiring to become officeholders. The course is in modular form and is presented in 4 half-day sessions. The course aims to provide participants with all the necessary tools to be a Police Association Officeholder, enabling participants to:

  • Lead their local Police Association Committee.
  • Effectively resolve member issues within their workplace using a problem solving approach.
  • Understand and represent members during the internal disciplinary process.
  • Involve their Police Association Committee and other workplace colleagues in member issues and concerns.
  • Take responsibility for their own learning and identify their own current and future learning needs.
